Structural Editing

I am a business owner and freelance editor at Plume Services. My background is in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) and I have over a decade of classroom experience, working with both adults and children. I completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Writing and French, at Edith Cowan University in Perth, graduating in 2016. While writing creatively and learning French will always remain hobbies, it was the editing aspects of my degree which excited me in terms of career prospects and led me to starting my freelance business, Plume Services, in 2015. Since then I have been fortunate enough to work with a wide range of talented authors, students, academics and business people, building on my editing and proofreading experience. I am a professional member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) in Australia, and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) in the UK, and I became an accredited editor with the Institute of Professional Editors in 2018.

"Georgina recently edited my short story, The Scroll of Isidor. After an initial chat about what I was seeking, she delivered a copyedited manuscript that exceeded my expectations. Georgina not only accurately picked up continuity and consistency errors, but gave me valuable advice and impressions on the draft, helping me shape it into its publishable state.

Having worked with a number of editors on various projects, I was truly impressed with Georgina's professionalism, accuracy, quick turnaround time and her willingness to discuss ideas further. I recommend her to anyone seeking an editor, either for a creative project or more corporate work. You won't be disappointed - she is excellent."

- Holden Sheppard

"Georgina edited my debut novel, The Rise of Delilah. She had an incredible vision for my book, and she gave me honest feedback, as well as constructive editing notes. Working with her was a breeze, and she's very passionate about what she does. She made a very stressful process much more enjoyable.

Her invaluable words of encouragement and her advice when I had a million and one questions never went unnoticed. She's been on this journey with me from the beginning, and I'll be proudly working with Georgina on my future novels. I cannot recommend her enough. Thank you for everything, Georgina. You've gone from being my editor to being a friend."

- Meagan Dux

"Working with Georgina made editing so much easier. She recently edited my engineering thesis and gave me great feedback and very useful and constructive editing notes, always positive and motivating. Her advice and revisions were practical and concrete. She always answered all my questions and her involvement extended beyond the reading and comments. She was also very accommodating with the timeframe given.
She is an excellent editor. She is friendly, thorough and professional. A pleasure to work with - I highly recommend Georgina.”

- Wilfredo Valenzuela
